Backyard BBQ with Sophie Noel and Keith Hallett

Wednesday, September 3rd
5:30 pm

Kick off September with the first-ever outdoors show at Greenslades! This after-work mid-week BBQ will feature live music by Sophie Noel and Keith Hallett, delicious food, and even croquet. Both the music and the food will be PWYC and as always, the event is BYOB.

Sophie Noel (they/them) is a musician and writer living in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia. They cartwheel between indie folk, art rock, and 90s grunge lite, making songs that feel nostalgic and sunlit. Described as “a more accessible Cate le Bon”, Sophie and their band put on a captivating live show.

Keith Hallett has developed his own unique style of spooky pre-war blues. For the past 15 years, he’s toured Canada, played with and supported artists like Buddy Guy, Justin Townes Earle, Junior Watson and has performed at internationally acclaimed festivals like Montreal Jazz Festival, Mont Tremblant International Blues Festival, Halifax Jazz Fest, and dozens of others.

Brooks & Bowskill

Canadian wife-and-husband musicians Brittany Brooks and Jimmy Bowskill have a genre-bending sound that journeys between folk, country-rock, pop and rock and roll.​

Jim Bowskill, a multi-talented instrumentalist, songwriter, producer and recording engineer has established himself as one of the most profound musicians and music producers in the industry. He is a member of Canadian country-rock band Blue Rodeo, as their multi-instrumentalist and previously spent 7 years as lead guitarist of Canadian rock band The Sheepdogs.

Brittany Brooks is a prolific songwriter, singer and instrumentalist, crafting lyrically evocative songs steeped in wisdom beyond her years. Her unique and poignant vocal style is reminiscent of female folk-rock pioneers from the ‘60s like Sandy Denny, Joni Mitchell and country artists like Emmylou Harris and Sylvia Tyson. In addition to releasing multiple solo albums, Brooks has provided background vocals on records and in live performances for numerous bands including Blue Rodeo.

Built in 1877 by the Dixon family, this house served as their home for three generations. It has only changed hands twice since and is now home to Andrew Ennals, who returned home to Sackville starting in 2018 with the goal of restoring and opening the house for guests and events.
