Ethan W. Olsen
/ The Quilter’s Guild
Tuesday, July 21
Doors at 7:00 pm, show at 7:30 pm
Ethan W. Olsen is a Musician and Experimental Filmmaker from Boston, MA. He has released two albums in the American Primitive Guitar style: “Blood Farm” (2024) and “The Pink House” (2023). His third solo album, “My God is a Consuming Fire,” is forthcoming with Carbon Records this summer.
The Quilter’s Guild combines the talents of Mike T. Kerr and Lotus Wight, creating a concoction of instruments and influences, each avenue explored down to its root by these unique musicians. While both in high demand as performers in their respective chosen fields - Wight in the folk and old-time festival circuit and Kerr as a highly in-demand guitarist on Toronto's live music scene - their shared passion for music history and rare recordings have given common musical ground together as performers. Mike's guitar playing recalls the entire history of the instrument while Lotus explores adventurously through many folkloric styles, handmade contraptions, and heartfelt stories.

Joel Miller & Silvio Pupo
Sunday, August 9
Doors at 2:00 pm, show at 2:30 pm
Introducing a new quarterly performance series, hosted by Sackville’s own Juno-winning saxophonist Joel Miller!
Raised in a musical family, Joel studied Jazz Performance at McGill University and has performed with notable artists including Geoffrey Keezer, Brian Blade, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. His career highlights include winning a JUNO Award for Best Contemporary Jazz Album with Swim (2012), ECMA awards for Swim, Dream Cassette (2016), and UNSTOPPABLE (2019). He has received multiple grants for composition, recording, and residencies, and leads workshops internationally, continually exploring the intersection of jazz and contemporary music.
Silvio studied classical piano for more than 12 years at the Professional School of Music in Holguin, Cuba. Currently living in Atlantic Canada, Silvio has backed countless musicians. His technical finesse has established himself as a sought after and respected jazz pianist in Halifax and beyond.
Built in 1877 by the Dixon family, this house served as their home for three generations. It has only changed hands twice since and is now home to Andrew Ennals, who returned home to Sackville starting in 2018 with the goal of restoring and opening the house for guests and events.
